Chondrite L3.1



History: This meteorite was discovered by an anonymous finder on a limestone plateau in the Dhofar region of Oman.
Physical characteristics: 17 brown stones of more than 500 g in total weight. Fusion crust is almost absent.
Geochemistry and Petrography: (S. Afanasiev (Vernad) and A. Ulianov (MSUR), EMP): Fayalite (mol%): 1.14-39.2, Ferrosilite (mol%): 2.23-30.1,
S3, W3, PMD 41.5; FeO 9.95 wt%, highly fractured chondrules of types RP, PO, and BO.
Classification: The meteorite is a L3.1 chondrite.
Specimens: sample and one thin section are on deposit at Vernadsky Institute.
An anonymous collector holds the main mass.
